If it hadn’t been for the high Google rating, we probably wouldn’t have stopped here for dinner — we might’ve assumed it was just another local bar with a great beer selection. Thankfully, the reviews drew us in, and even with high expectations, we were still pleasantly surprised. From the start, the cocktail selection was thoughtful and the one we tried was both colorful and inventive. That same creativity carried through to the food: a well-executed blend of modern American cuisine with French and Chinese influences. It’s a bold mix, but it worked beautifully. Highlights included a rich, creamy garlic-cheese French fondue and a fresh, vibrant shrimp and rice bowl — both dishes were flavorful and artfully presented. The outdoor patio offered a great atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The only small drawback was the relatively limited vegetarian selection, though there were still a few solid options — and the ones we tried were genuinely tasty.

Fun atmosphere. Staff is kind, quick, great service. They really seem to care about the customer experience and getting to know their patrons! They do weekly trivia which we have attended three times, each has been different and a lot of fun. Food and drinks are awesome every time!

Ever since it has been bought by new owners, I’ve seen a real shift. I loved Savin Rock Roasting Company, don’t get me wrong! Have lived here for 8 years. But you can tell The Breakwall is trying something different when it comes to creating a destination and source of entertainment on the West Haven Shoreline. The Trivia on Tuesdays is the best Trivia I’ve been to in a long time — super old school way of reading out the answers and getting the entire restaurant involved. I’ve enjoyed all the live music they’ve had on Thursdays and Saturdays. And the FOOD (which is the most important thing) is amazing. I love their specials and always get excited when they publish new ones. You have to try all of the different egg rolls they do — the Philly Cheese Steak Egg rolls are to die for. I love their drink choices — always good options on draft. Happy there are some new owners who have respected what residents used to love ab the old restaurant, while bringing a fresh perspective and new life to the West Haven food scene.

We were having a rough week and decided to treat ourselves for our anniversary and did not regret it. The service was absolutely stellar with everyone being so polite. We got the Phillysteak egg roll starter and at first I was disappointed it only came with 4 but then I realized why, the meal portions were amazing and I definitely would have been stuffed if we ate more. My prime rib special came with a generous portion as well as fries and grilled veggies. My partner got an amazing chicken wrap with some onion rings which are made in house and melt in your mouth. We were recommended a great house wine as well and ended the night with a great dessert. Overall for a starter, two meals (my prime rib being of course on the pricier side), wine, soda, and dessert it only came to 90 before tip. For how great the food is this was a steal and they also have a rewards program as well. We will definitely be treating ourselves more often and recommending this fantastic place to friends and family!
